Who we are, what we stand for:
The Bike Stand is a 40-year-old, full-service bike shop in Olympia, Washington. We are large enough to provide a good selection of merchandise, but not so big that you get lost in the shuffle. We value customer service and building relationships with our customers.
We sell all types of bicycles including: juvenile, sports comfort, hybrid, cruisers, road, and mountain bikes. We are best known as a road bike shop, but hope that anyone who walks through our doors will be able to find a bike that fits their wants and needs. The Bike Stand also has full service repair shop, staffed with the area’s most experienced and skilled mechanics.
We go beyond just selling bicycles and accessories. We provide a custom experience for the decisions each of our customers need to make. The many options can be overwhelming, but we will listen to your needs, goals and stories. Then, we can describe your options and help you make your selection.
We love bicycles and bicycling. That doesn’t seem too surprising since we work in a bike shop, but you would be surprised! Our staff ride bicycles year-round in the rain and sun, on pavement, dirt and gravel, to the grocery store or for thousands of miles. Our wealth of experience using the equipment help us understand the products we sell.
Sometimes we do it by providing unusual services such as precision sizing (yes, bicycles come in sizes and they need to fit), or free maintenance clinics every Monday night. Sometimes we do it by Living the Dream. All of us ride bicycles. Not in homogenized, pasteurized ways, but ride none the less. We lead regular rides and teach indoor trainer classes. We know what works and what doesn’t because we ride. Sometimes doing it is a result of what we don’t do. We will not sell you a bike that the wrong size, even if you do like the color. We won’t act like a Boy’s Club because some of us have long since quit being boys, and some of us are women. We won’t be condescending because we really believe helping get everyone on bicycles is a calling. Give us a try. We personally guarantee we help you attain your cycling dreams!
