Christmas Day
2007
Val and Steve Sr. Hyer joined Jackie and Rob Plankers for a
day of snowshoeing in the deep fresh snow at Mt. Rainier.
They started at Narada Falls and snow shoed to Reflection
Lake, about a 4 mile round trip.
Val remarked
that it snowed light, fluffy beautiful flakes all day, with
no wind and cold but tolerable temperatures. "It truly was a
winter wonderland with the trees covered in fresh snow". |

Rob reports
that everyone had great fun and enjoyed the day.
The only downside to the day was the drive home from
Longmier to the park entrance, the weather changed and coated
the road with ice. The park service required
everyone to chain up and it took 2.5 hours for the 4 mile
drive. "We had to wait for them to clear the road, it
was slow going, but everyone made it" says Val.
Just a reminder
that weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains,
so be prepared with all the necessary equipment every time
you head out. |
