Work Agenda: Hopscotch

At a time when Americans are leading increasingly digital and sedentary lifestyles and experiencing growing rates of obesity, The Alpine Experience is joining the Recess Revolution, an initiative to improve the health and well-being of our community and area businesses by encouraging them to take short outdoor “recess” breaks every day of the week.

Inspired by the Recess is Back campaign of KEEN, we’re encouraging everyone to join us outside for one of three 30-minute breaks for Recess on Friday, April 27th.

  • 12:20  – 1:00 PM – At the southwest corner of Capitol Boulevard and Israel Road in Tumwater (Location of the Tumwater Farmer’s Market)
  • 2:30 – 3:00 PM – Sylvester Park, Downtown Olympia
  • 5:00 – 5:30 PM – Olympic Room (407 4th Ave E, Olympia)

“Remember when recess was the best part of your day?  KEEN wants to bring that time back. We believe that being active outside during the workday makes for better employees who are happier and healthier, so we are reaching out to employers across the country and around the world to join together in this movement to incorporate recess into the workplace,” said James Curleigh, president and CEO at KEEN. “In this new century we are helping to re-invent the next wave of corporate culture and recess can be a vital stimulant for competitive, effective, healthy and dynamic employee teams. We hope that companies and organizations that aspire to be great places to work will create their own version of outdoor recess, ultimately making recess as common as casual Friday.

*KEEN Inc., based in Portland, Ore., manufactures hybrid trail and casual products, including footwear, bags and socks, that transition seamlessly from work to play, and enable people to pursue a Hybrid lifestyle: create, play and care. The company recently launched the KEEN Recess Revolution, encouraging adults to take 10-minute outdoor “Recess” breaks every day to re-energize at work and be healthier and happier. Recess is Back is KEEN’s campaign to promote the need for adults to take a break from the daily grind, get outside and create their own playground.
